About us
Young Sustainable Impact (YSI) gathers young talent from all around the world to develop impact startups, with the 17 Sustainable development goals as a framework. We do this through a threefold mission. First of all creating youth-driven sustainable business through an online innovation program. Secondly, we have built and are building a youth-led movement focusing on sustainability, called Earthpreneurs. Thirdly, through working to influence established businesses and organizations on sustainability-related challenges.

THE BEGINNING
A group of nine young students and entrepreneurs meet for a workshop about Maiuran Loganathans idea to gather youth to solve the climate challenge. The project is called "Greentech", but soon changes to Young Sustainable Impact.

LAUNCH
YSI launch event is held at the office of Future Leaders presenting the plans for 2016. The application process gets out to find the first YSI entrepreneurs!

FIRST CONFERENCE
YSI Conference 2016 - "20 under 20". 20 youth under 20 years old from 16 nations gathers in Oslo for seven days to go from ideas to finished business models. Four teams create four concepts to solve one of the greatest challenges of our time: the climate challenge. A machine for water-purification and "Tinder for plants" are definite business concepts teams still are working on today. Still, to this day, Aquasolis Global is alive and provides clean water to over 7000 people.

DEVELOPMENT
The team gathers at Amund Gryttings farm to plan the next year for YSI. A go-to place for peace, quiet and reflections.

SCALING
A new YSI volunteer team is formed at Minerva Schools at KGI in San Fransisco, which expands the global outreach team reach with 15 nations.

10.029 APPLICANTS
In 2016 we had 40 applicants (head huntet), but with zero money and a whole lot of energetic help we managed well. The application process ends with 10.029 applicants from 170 countries.

GLOBAL PROGRAM 2017
The 5-month long innovation program begins, with people from across all continents. The goal was to create a new startup from scratch. This marked an historic moment as we moved into our first 5-month program, up from 7 days program in 2016.

YSI CONFERENCE 2017
YSI Conference 2017 - Earthpreneurs 2017 - concludes the innovation program with pitches for both investors and the public. We had run our first 5-month program, which you could call an MVP for the program.

YSI EXPANSION
In the spring of 2017, the decision is made to expand the organization. Some great young people apply with a desire to create a local YSI chapter in their country or region. After getting over 130 applicants, four fantastic teams start YSI for Southeast Asia (based in Singapore), Bangladesh, and China.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Based on research and the feedback from previous participants, the innovation program is revised to a 5 module, 10 objectives framework. Months of hard work, and long hours to create the process more seamless.

ONLINE INNOVATION PROGRAMS ARE KICKED OFF
The new version of our online program successfully launches in the different YSI locations. Each location chose different duration for the online part based on resources, with the Global program being 4.5 months, up from 2.5 months in the 2017 version.

YSI BANGLADESH INNOVATION PROGRAM
YSI Bangladesh set up their first program in Dhaka. The conference is named Megapreneurs, targeting problems in this megacity.

YSI SEA hold their regional innovation program in Singapore, with participants from all around South East Asia.

YSI China set up the conference in Shanghai marking the first YSI China program run.

YSI Global innovation program is finalized with two weeks accelerating work at StartupLab Oslo. 8 teams present their startups to investors and corporates.

EARTHPRENEURS 2018 - NURTURED BY YARA
250 people gather together to watch the pitches of the YSI participants and engage with our partners at the coworking space Gyro. We also had our first major partner at the Earthpreneurs event.

BUSINESS-COLLABORATION PILOT
YARA International join forces with YSI in our first pilot with a business choosing which areas within the 17 SDGs we are working with. 2 of the 8 teams for the 2019 program will then collaborate with YARA throughout the 5-month program.
